Affiliate Disclosure

How Balcony Grower is funded, and what that does - and doesn't - change about our recommendations.

The short version

Balcony Grower is reader-supported. Some links on this site are affiliate links: if you click one and go on to buy the product, the retailer pays us a small commission. It costs you nothing extra - you pay exactly the same price as if you'd found the product yourself.

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

Which programmes we belong to

At the time of writing, our affiliate links are to Amazon UK via the Amazon Associates programme. If we join additional retailer programmes in future, this page will be updated to list them.

How affiliate links appear

  • Product buttons and "view price" links on buying guides and reviews are typically affiliate links.
  • Affiliate links are marked with rel="sponsored" in the page code, as search engines require.
  • Prices shown next to those links are retrieved live from the retailer, so what you see reflects the current listing rather than a stale typed-in figure.

What affiliate revenue doesn't change

  • Rankings. Which product tops a guide is decided by the criteria stated in that guide - fit for small urban spaces, real running costs, build quality and value - never by commission rate.
  • Inclusion. Products are covered because they're relevant to our readers, whether or not an affiliate programme exists for them. Where the best answer has no affiliate link, we say so and link it anyway.
  • Honesty about flaws. Every recommendation states its trade-offs. A commission doesn't buy a softer verdict.

Why we do it this way

Affiliate revenue is what lets the site exist without paywalls, pop-up subscriptions or display-ad clutter. The full editorial standards behind our guides are documented in the editorial policy.
